This get your Thursday up and shakin’
This 1992 hit “Rumpshaker” by the new jack swing rap group Wreckx-N-Effect peaked at #2 on Billboards hot 100 with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” blocking it from #1 glory. The group was produced by Teddy Riley who had a verse on the track that was written by the then young spud, Pharrell Williams.
This music video received negative critism from press outlets that stated the video exploited women in bikinis. I remember that, and was trying to recall when was the last time I went to the beach and saw anyone in the water fully dressed? New York Daily News had referred to them as “horny little rap kids.” I wonder what they felt about Uncle Luke lol.
We have yet to know exactly what it means to zoom a zoom zoom zoom and a boom boom, but I’m pretty sure it’s a grown folk activity.
