Mason Durell Betha is what his mom called him, but the world knows him as MASE. His debut album Harlem World, released in 1997, was #1 on the Billboard Pop and R&B LP charts selling over 270k copies in the first week. With that he rose to be Bad Boy Records premiere artist, filling the blank the tragic death of Biggie Smalls left in the label.
Mase left the industry and became a Minister in 1999, ever since he has be in and out the music biz with a album here (Welcome Back in 2007), and a feature there. Back in April of this year he popped up on a remix of Wale’s track called “Slight Work”, and again this past September on Kanye West’s track “Higher” from his Cruel Summer album. Mase is currently signed with Bad Boy Record to date, so who knows, he may release another album.
