In case you haven’t heard the word, Lucas Films was purchased by Disney for $4 Billion (DAAAAYUM).
What is Lucas going to do with all the extra dough? Donate majority of it to charities that focus on educational issues.
Go head brotha!
The iconic film maker is tre passionate about educational issues. His charity, Edutopia, which he’s the chairman of, is dedicated to improving the K-12 learning process by documenting, disseminating, and advocating for innovative, replicable, and evidence-based strategies that prepare students to thrive in their future education, careers, and adult lives.
In 2010 Lucas was quoted:
“I am dedicating the majority of my wealth to improving education. It is the key to the survival of the human race. We have to plan for our collective future—and the first step begins with social, emotional and intellectual tools we provide to our children. As humans, our greatest tool for survival is our ability to think and to adapt—as educators, storytellers and communicators, our responsibility is to continue to do so.”
I’ve been a fan Lucas, but reading this story and getting to know more about his charitable works, my fan-dom has increased by triple. I believe giving back is a duty for everyone whether it be time or money, it’s healthy to sew good works into one’s life. Those who have been blessed with a little more, should give a little more, because the return on investment on good deeds is immeasurable.
Congrats Mr. Lucas for being such an incredible human.
And that’s what’s really G double O-D.
