A total Chinese comfort food….in minutes!
I am a bit obsessed with fried rice.
It was the first food, along with egg drop soup, that I learned to eat at Chinese restaurants as a kid. But somehow, I never quite grew out of it and admittedly still order fried rice nearly every time we hit up a Chinese restaurant or takeout. Call it carbs, call it good flavor, call it comfort food….I just love it!
The fun thing is that it’s also a breeze to make at home! The key is just having some refrigerated rice ready to go. It’s a great use for leftover rice, or it’s also quick and easy to make a batch the night before or in the morning prior to work.
And then mixing it with these Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers makes the veggie part a breeze! Just steam and add them directly to the fried rice, and voila! A simple and DE-licious meal is ready to go in less than 15 minutes.
So fast! Yet another reason why I love fried rice. Give it a go!
Start with about 4 cups of refrigerated rice. I used some leftover brown rice this time.
And then whip out your secret ingredient to make this rice even easier! Just pop in the microwave and steam away.
Whip up some scrambled eggs while the veggies steam, and be sure to break them into lots of small pieces.
Then in a large skillet, saute the chopped onion, ginger and garlic until cooked. Add the rice, scrambled eggs, and steamed veggies and cook for awhile longer with the soy sauce and sesame oil.
And then you’re ready to serve!
You can be brave and go with chopsticks, or use the ol’ American fork. I won’t tell!
